A L.E.A.D. Academy

Welcome to the Governing Body section of the Charnock Hall Website.  Its aim is to provide information on the role of the governing body and to help you to become more familiar with all the governors.   The profiles have been written by the governors themselves and should help everyone get to know them all little more.

All Governors are contactable via the School Office, or by email to enquiries@charnockhall.sheffield.sch.uk  except where indicated below. We also encourage parents to tell us how they perceive the school through Parent View.  We are always keen to hear your views and if you wish to discuss anything with the Governors then please do not hesitate to contact us. We hope that this section will help you to understand better what we do, who we are and why we are serving as Governors.

I am extremely proud to be associated with Charnock Hall Primary School and serve as Chair of the Governing Body. I have been involved in school Governance for the last 10 years in both the Nursery and Primary sector. In my role as Chair I am also part of Board for The Birley Learning Community Trust.
For the majority of my career I have worked in recruitment and development within the retail sector. I have three Children, the youngest of which is a pupil at Charnock Hall and the older two attending Birley Community College.
Myself and my family are active members of the community being involved in local football teams and dance academy.
I have a desire to ensure the needs of pupils, staff and the community are met to the beat of my ability. I am delighted to be able to make a contribution to such a great school.

Claire Mizler-Belcher (Vice-Chair of Governors)

Date Appointed: 08/07/2015

Term of Office: 07/07/2019

I am proud to serve as vice chair of governors.  I have a background in finance and now work for the NHS as a paediatric nurse.  I like to be involved in the community, and enjoy running a local playgroup which I have done for a number of years.
I have two children in school, one in year 3 and one in reception.   I too attended Charnock as a child and have lived in the area most of my life. I became a governor because I wanted to make a contribution to our community, and play a part in making the school successful for all of our children. It is a very challenging role that I find extremely rewarding.

Catherine Thomson

Date Appointed: 08/07/2015

Term of Office: 07/07/2019

I am privileged to have been elected by the governing body to support them in driving the school forward. Until very recently i had been a senior bid manager in Global IT and Telecomms with governance being my day job. I am now enjoying some time out as a full time parent (when i am not in with reception children and Y2 reading/writing). I have 2 children in Charnock School and a step daughter in Birley Community College. I have taken on the role of curriculum links governor for English and sit on the parent and community committee and HR/Premises and finance committee. I hope to both challenge and support the senior leadership team going forward to ensure Charnock school and our children are the best they can be.

Jenine Thorpe

Parent Governor

Date Appointed: 08/07/2015

Term of Office: 07/07/2019

I am honoured to have been elected by the Governing body.  I have worked with children over a number of years and my particular interest is how children learn through play. I currently work within the social services department of a neighbouring local authority.

Some parents may know me from running a local Parent and Toddler group.  I have two children in school, one in Y5 and one in Y2.  I have taken on the role of curriculum link governor for sport and sit on the parent and community committee.

I myself attended Charnock Hall Primary and I have fond memories which I am keen to replicate for children attending Charnock Hall Primary today. I became a Governor to support the senior leadership team to progress the school and enrich our children’s learning opportunities.

I feel privileged to serve as a school governor at such a charming school. I’m a statistican at the Department for Education working mainly on children’s services. I have two young daughters who attend a different school, but I have good friends who have children here at Charnock Hall.
